Kitchen Trends 2018
Kitchen Trends for 2018
I think you’re going to like these trends! I sure do!
1. Black Fixtures
Yes! Black is the new bronze. We will be seeing black light fixtures, cabinet hardware, and faucets. It looks classic and chic. If you ware waffling on which finish to select, choose black!
2. Gold Fixtures
Gold is not going away any time soon. It’s pretty with cool colors such as gray, blue and white because it adds warmth and the feeling of luxury.
Homeowners are getting bold and designers are loving all of the beautiful colors for backsplashes! It’s an easy way to add some pizazz to the kitchen.
Water jet cut glass is gorgeous and so sophisticated. It tends to be more expensive but you can see why.
5. Cerused Oak
It has been creeping up and I expect to see it more as people tire of the all white kitchen.
“Back in the 1500’s, the French invented a technique of filling in the grains in oak beams and paneling with a toxic paste derived from lead. This was initially done to help prevent rot in oak beams. Later, the wood finish known as ‘limed oak’ became popular in the cabinet and furniture world.
Today that stylish finish is still called limed oak in Europe and here in the US we call it cerused wood or cerused oak. What’s so great about this look? A cerused finish will highlight the contrast between the grain and the rest of the surface. Oak is the go-to choice for a cerused finish due to its characteristic open grain, however other hardwoods like ash could also work.” Gohaus
6. Integrated Sinks
The look is streamlined. It’s more about the ease of cleaning and cooking and less about the ornamentation of the kitchen this year.
Design Highlight: The look in the kitchen is becoming less ornate and color and cerused oak are playing major roles.
Design Tip: It doesn’t matter what the trends are; unless you plan to sell you home in a couple of years, then listen up. 😉 Your home should reflect your style and personality.
What do you think of these trends? Which one is your favorite?
