Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring Cleaning Tipsorganized garageIt’s that time again! It’s time to prepare for spring!Enjoy these tips from Shanned Kelley, owner of Practically Perfect Organizing.1. Pack up all of your cold weather gear in water tight containers and make sure you tuck in a few dryer sheets for that fresh smell and store them in the garage so your closet is now free to bring in all your spring and summer wear!2. One of the most important aspects of spring cleaning is to thoroughly clean the pantry! Replace shelf liners as needed and expired foods and don’t let bugs live in hidden corners or spider webs build up in the place where you store your food!3. This is a great time to give all the rugs in your home and nice thorough steam cleaning to get all of the dust and dirt from the last  storms off of your carpet. This will help keep allergies down throughout the summer months and the rest of the year.4. My favorite thing to do in spring is organizing the garage! The spring brings storms and sometimes hail comes with the storms, especially if you live in Texas. Spending a little money to get your garage cleaned out saves you a ton of money repairing dents and permanent damage to your car! Now is the perfect time to get in the garage and clean out  all the clutter so you can park in and the garage during bad weather and keep your car out of the heat in the blistering summer.5. Laundry rooms are often the dustiest rooms due to the dryer vent. Give that hard working room a fresh clean! Move the washer and dryer (empty) away from the wall, disconnect the dryer vent and make sure it’s clean and clear. A clogged vent is a fire hazard! Sweep, mop and remove any empty or unused bottles. Make sure there’s a small trash can easily accessible for odds and ends. Don’t be afraid to add a shelf or a rack to keep your items within reach year round. Turn your laundry room back into a room that works for you!For hands on help with organizing your home or office, connect with Shannen Kelley here. Or you can give her a call 214-250-6328.
