My Dream Staycation
A staycation can be wonderful with a few simple luxuries and a general plan. I like staycations because I get to spend some time on the things I enjoy and I can take my time. I feel like I rush through each day trying to accomplish everything on my list. A staycation means I have a little time to smell the roses. My dream staycation would last about a week and would include any of the following in no particular order because this is a carefree staycation.1. Waking up slowly in luxurious cotton bedding like this from Crane and Canopy. I like a fluffy down comforter throughout the year . Oh, and my husband serves breakfast in bed. He makes delicious crepes! 2. Yoga! I always feel rejuvenated after a yoga class and it would be fun to take a class in Dallas at the Crow Collection of Asian Art.3. Watching a musical at Fair Park. One of my favorite things to do is watch a lively musical! It's a great way to unwind and destress and it reminds me of my high school and college years when I performed in musicals! Here I am in the photo below reading a letter from the villain who wants to marry me. This was way back in 1988!4. Shopping in downtown McKinney on the square. I enjoy the small town feel and the wonderful shops with great eats and cool antiques and things! I like to take my time and take it all in. 5. A DIY project like painting a chair. I painted this chair and then took it to the upholsterer to have the seat fabric recovered. I find projects like these to be gratifying.6. Exploring the Heard Museum with the kids. The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary is a wonderful place to relax and get in touch with the natural beauty that we often overlook in our hurried, city lives. They have a butterfly garden which is my favorite part!7. Paddle boarding! I have never tried to paddle board but I would love to! I think my kids would like it, too.8. Watching a chick flick. This may not be my husband's ideal but this is MY dream staycation. I'm a sucker for a sappy love story or a story where determination and overcoming great obstacles means that the protagonist accomplishes his dreams. Yah, a cold, dark movie theatre is relaxing and it provides my brain a mental vacation.9. Taking a ballroom dance lesson! I have taken a few salsa classes bit it would be fun to try the tango or Viennese waltz. Dancing is creative and expressive and fun!10. Making ice cream and eating it on the patio. There is nothing better than homemade ice cream! Making ice cream reminds me of the times when my dad would bring out the ice cream maker with the hand crank and I helped turn the crank with the ice, cream and rock salt. We made blueberry ice cream one time. That was interesting!11. Riding bikes! Unless the temperature is over 80 degrees then never mind but otherwise a family bike ride is always fun!12. Ending the day with a glass of wine or chocolate, or both! My husband and I like to sit back in our bed and talk about the day we have had. My dream staycation dictates that we will have may pleasant moments to reminisce about. What would you include in your staycation?Cheers to happy summer memories,Holly
