High Point Furniture Market 2017
I got back from High Point furniture market in High Point, North Carolina this week. It is a non-stop all day feast of furniture, lighting, and art, and a little dessert and wine. I was able to source items for clients and make connections with vendors for future projects. It is such a stimulating experience that I could not sleep at night. Here is just a taste of what I saw. Natural woven fibers on beds and lighting.
Brass light fixtures with interesting textures are tres chic.
Metal and lucite light fixtures are interesting.
Selenite and crystals were on everything like this mirror.
Abstract art with bold color was beautiful.
Mixing colors and textures on upholstered furniture as well as bold colors were popular.
Velvet and floral fabrics together are an updated take on traditional.
Canopy beds and light wood as well as geometric wallpaper are trending.
Black and white, plaid and houndstooth fabrics are popular and I love them!
Interesting shaped ottomans in all sizes.
Rugs that look like abstract art in vibrant colors are so pretty.
The dominant colors at market were: blue, blush, emerald, teal, aqua, and coral. The popular fabric types were: velvet, floral, geometrics, linen, nubby textures, hair on hide, houndstooth, and burlap. The popular furniture styles were just about every kind which included: tuxedo, chesterfield, low back, swivel options, wing back chairs in all heights and styles. Wallpaper is floral, chinoiserie geometric patterns, birds, and grass cloth in all colors. Hardware in every finish possible! There were so many interesting light fixtures including: lanterns, mid century, natural materials such as shell, crystal, and jute; polished, brushed and antiqued metals. A trip to market is always exciting and exhausting! The photos above sum up the first day and the last day. I hope you enjoyed this little recap.
