5 Small Home Organizational Tips
Whether you have a large home or a studio apartment, we all need tips and tricks to organize our spaces. An organized home saves time and energy.
I looked for the best ideas to share with you. I like ideas that can be implemented quickly, easily, and inexpensively. I don't have a lot of time to work on my own home so if an idea takes special tools and skills, it's not gonna happen. Can you relate?
Here are my favorite tips.
1. Door organizers
These organizers from Container Store provide many options. I like the versatility. You can use one in the laundry room as shown here or in the master bedroom if you do not have a linen closet. You can also add one to a coat closet to hold wrapping paper or one in the pantry to hold spices, oils, etc. I installed one in each of the kid's closets to hold books. Their rooms are small and they don't have room for a bookcase so this was the perfect solution.
2. Add a small chest to the closet
Use a small chest, night stand, or side table to store underwear and socks. If you have a piece of furniture that is not being used, move it to the closet. You can also store office supplies or linens.
And paint the interior of the closet a fun color! This design is by Brian Patrick Flynn.

3. Use an ice cube tray to sort jewelry
Place these in a vanity drawer or dresser drawer. You can also sort those extra clothing buttons that you just might need some day!
4. Add bungee cords to corral awkward items
I love this idea! You can store the balls and baseball mitts and that awkward stuff on a shelf and it won't fall out on you when you walk by!

5. Under the bed storage
The space under the bed is generally a good hiding spot. Make it attractive by adding a storage box on wheels. Hide linens, out-of-season clothing, and memorabilia.
Design Highlight: Make organization easy so that you can save time and frustration. "For every minute spent in organizing, an hour is earned." Benjamin Franklin
Design Tips: Think of the spaces that are not being used to their advantage. Maybe you can add a divider or ice cube tray to a drawer. Are you utilizing the back of the door to store items? Make every inch work for you.
