Her Luxury Bathroom Remodel

I initially met with my client five years ago to discuss various projects, and while their bathroom was mentioned, we did not begin designing the remodel for another two years. We had many goals to accomplish and desired for the entirety of our vision to come to fruition, which is why we took our time with it. The goals we had are listed below:

  1. Create a spa-like feel with traditional charm

  2. Reimagine the tub and make it easier to step into

  3. Utilize the space effectively

  4. Include a TV

  5. Replace everything-and I mean everything

  6. Add some pizazz to the ceiling

  7. Include a docking drawer so that a hair dryer and curling iron can remain plugged in

  8. Remove the roman columns and fill in the space between the bathroom and sitting room

Take a look at the photo below to see what the bathroom looked like before the project began.

This is the ceiling before the project began. We removed the wood trim and crown molding to give the small vault an updated and less intricate look. We also lacquered the ceiling with a high gloss paint finish to make it look elevated. You can see how it shines in the photo below.

This home boasts three other rooms with beautiful paneling, so I knew this bathroom was calling for wainscoting. Your eye is drawn around the room because the chair rail is the same height on all sides. While marble is used as a backsplash on the center wall of the vanity, millwork is used on the angled walls.

The marble countertop measured 2 cm in thickness, which appeared somewhat slender and inadequate for the space. To create a more substantial and visually appealing look, we decided to build up the countertop to a thickness of 4cm.

The art in this photo is actually a Samsung Frame TV. When not watching TV or listening to music, the homeowner can look at her choice of beautiful art.

The shower is covered in marble from head to toe!

This is the vanity before the demolition. It was on the opposite wall. I suggested that we flip flop the vanity with the tub so that the homeowner could apply makeup and such and not be seen from the entry of the bedroom if the bathroom doors were open. She wanted more privacy.

In the photo above you see the beautiful tub, tub filler (faucet), and the gorgeous marble floor! Yes, the floor is marble tile. It extends into her closet.

This is the wall that was enclosed to create her new vanity. The steps were cumbersome and the plantation shutters were not the client’s favorite features. The tub moved to the opposite side and the wall was enclosed.

I love this photo above! It was quite a job to install all of the marble in this master bathroom. The countertops were installed first and then the marble wall panels were installed later. You can see the wires for the LED lighting that would eventually be installed on the edges of the marble panels.

We had to figure out how to install the marble panels with the LED lights. Wood 2x4s were installed behind the marble panels to create a small gap for the LED light strips. Look at how gorgeous the marble is! You can see the 2cm thickness on the backsplash and understand why the edge was fabricated at 4cm.

This is the rendering that was presented to the client at her design presentation.

The vanity with the beautiful marble columns and LED lights. There is also a recessed light above each mirror.

This project was quite rewarding, The client is happy and I am happy!
