3 Living Room Furniture Arrangements
3 Living Room Furniture Arrangements
When staging or decorating your home you want to make sure that the family room or living room is arranged properly. The arrangement should maximize the square footage, be conducive to conversation and have good traffic flow without blocking the entrance to the room.
There are three room arrangements that I refer to as the U Shape, L Shape and H Shape. As you can guess, the room arrangements look like the letters that represent them!
Let's look at the U Shape. The arrangement starts with the sofa which faces the focal point; the fireplace or television.
After that, a chair is placed on each end of the sofa facing in toward the center or a loveseat and a chair are placed.
Here is one example:
The L Shape living room requires one of the following:
- A sofa and two chairs
- A sofa and one chair
- A sofa and a loveseat
Here is an example of an L Shape living room. Notice that the furniture is floating in the center of the room to allow for traffic in and out of the French doors.
The third living room arrangement is the H Shape. This consists of one of the following:
- Two sofas
- A sofa and two chairs
- A sofa and a loveseat
Here is an example of the H Shape living room. This arrangement is ideal for a long room with a fireplace in the center of the wall.
Depending on the shape of your living room, the entrances and exits, and the type of furniture you have; you can try one of these arrangements and your room will look great!
Which shape do you prefer?
