What Makes a Design Charming?
Charming...can design be charming? Yes, absolutely, yes, design can be charming. What does that mean? I have thought about this and when I was working on my tagline and thinking about my business and my designs I thought about color, character, whimsy, details, light-hearted, unique, antique, vintage, and fun! To me, all these characteristics equal charming. Really, charming is in the details and the overall feel of the home.OK, how about a few visual aids? You might not think that a shiny sequin pillow would work with a traditional English chair but it adds a bit of whimsy and CHARM! This is a vintage (maybe not so vintage but that sounds fancier than previously owned) milk glass lamp with a lamp shade from Target! How cute is this combination for a baby nursery?! Mixing old and new is Charming! The quickest way to change the look of a dresser is to paint it and replace the hardware. This happened to be a new dresser but we customized it with paint, crystal knobs, and overlays (the pretty white designs). Custom, unique details are charming!Texture and pattern is also charming! Shell and bone boxes with faux coral on a black granite coffee table are fun! So there you have it! What do you think?Have a charming day, friends!Holly
