Definition of an Interior Designer

A designer is someone who works from her intuition. She can visualize what a room can be and feel how the room will translate. She solves design dilemmas. She challenges her clients to move to a new level they didn't know they would love.

A designer communicates well with clients, contractors, and artisans. Collaborating on the specifics of a custom vent hood cover, whether or not we can remove the columns, and the perfect measurements for an upholstered bed are a few of the things that I communicate about. The best contractors and good communication are key to great design. Understanding what the client wants and how to translate that requires communication.

An interior designer is always learning and honing her craft. She's on the lookout for the latest trends, colors, and fixtures. Blending timeless furnishings with trendy details such as accent colors, accessories and rugs is what she does.An interior designer has to create. She's not fulfilled unless she is constantly working, creating and fulfilling dreams. This includes her clients' design dreams as well as her business dreams.

An interior designer has a sense of humor! Something is bound to go wrong with each project because, well, life isn't perfect and you have to roll with the punches and laugh; and eat chocolate.

I became an interior designer because I'm just not happy unless I'm solving problems, coordinating paint, fabric, tile; and getting to know my clients. I enjoy learning; every project, class, book, and trip to market provides opportunities for growth.

Being an interior designer is intensive. When I am not meeting with clients I am managing project delays, damaged merchandise, and traffic! I am sourcing materials and products at showrooms, blogging and updating my website, sending emails, and preparing invoices.

I would not be happy doing anything else. I am blessed to do what I love for the best clients.

Smiles,

Holly
